The World Heritage site Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland comprises seven farms, six of which are privately owned. The work with Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland lies in many different bodies, organizations and municipalities. It is our joint responsibility to manage. The County Administrative Board Gävleborg, Region Gävleborg and the municipalities of Hälsingland have different functions regarding the World Heritage Hälsingegårdar, but cooperate all the time.
The Gävleborg County Administrative Board has a central role as the representative of the government/state at regional level, which means an overall supervisory responsibility to ensure that World Heritage values are protected and taken care of. The county board also has an important role in the preventive and proactive conservation work, among other things by establishing care and maintenance plans for the world heritage farms and prioritizing building maintenance contributions to the world heritage.
Region Gävleborg is responsible for communication of the World Heritage via the World Heritage's official website and social media linked to the World Heritage. Region Gävleborg is also responsible for the World Heritage Scholarship, Knowledge days, strategic development work, among other things in the form of VR, as well as national and international contacts linked to information, sustainable development and the hospitality industry.
Hälsingland's municipalities collaborate around a joint function with the aim of lifting Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland and the tourism industry by, among other things, coordinating the so-called Rådslaget, which brings together different actors and stakeholders within the World Heritage. The municipalities are also responsible for ensuring that World Heritage is always protected when developing new detailed plans and other governing documents within community planning where the cultural and historical values must be guiding. With their responsibility for the school, the municipalities also have an important role in the world heritage educational work for both students and teachers.
